My antivirus/spyware scanner is detecting WebPage as spyware?

SEO Toolbar is bundled with WebPage as an optional component. Some antivirus and spyware scanner vendors have identified this as spyware.

In a nutshell this toolbar software allows people to create their own toolbars, you can see examples at toolbarbrowser.com. Some of the ranking features in this toolbar requires details to be sent to external servers to obtain ranking results. For example, you can view a sites's ranking by visiting pi.trellian.com or alexa.com. Essentially these features are the same offered in the Google Toolbar, Alexa Toolbar and Yahoo Toolbar with Web Rank enabled etc.

The ToolbarBrowser does not hide this fact and the implications of this are described in the license agreement. There are settings in preferences to disable these features. The downside is that by disabling these, you will lose many useful features in the process, but you have that choice.

You can deselect it during the installation process. To remove an existing installation, simply select the toolbarbrowser within the add/remove program tool located in your windows control panel and click on remove.
